Alexandra Ambroise

Alexandra Ambroise is a proud member of the Innu Nation, specifically from the Uashat mak Mani-Utenam community. She has extensive experience in cultural awareness training in the workplace and plays a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable populations as the Executive Director of Refuge Mitshuap in Montreal.

Throughout her career, she has held various roles, including:

• Trainer at the École des dirigeants des Premières Nations (EDPN) at HEC Montréal, where she educated future Indigenous leaders.
• Speaker for the Ministry of Justice, raising awareness about Indigenous realities and justice in training seminars for Quebec judges.
• Coordinator of the UQLIF project, dedicated to missing children in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice.
• Investigative Officer for the Public Inquiry Commission on Relations Between Indigenous Peoples and Certain Public Services in Quebec.
• Educator-Animator at the Kapatakan Gilles Jourdain Community Residential Center.
• Employment Follow-up Agent, Training and Social Development, as well as an Education Agent.
• Judicial Interpreter for the Ministry of Justice.
• Peace Officer.
• Judicial Liaison Officer.

Her career reflects an unwavering commitment to social justice, community development, and the promotion of Indigenous peoples’ rights, with a direct impact on the ground and within public institutions. In recognition of her contributions, she was awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal on December 18, 2024.
